Happy Lunar New Year!

Posted by TIJA HUNTER on 1/17/2023

The library has created a special display for this special time of year. We are celebrating the Lunar New Year which started in China and is popular across many parts of Asia. The first day of the Lunar Calendar begins on January 22nd, 2023. Celebrations in China last for 7 days. The day of the full moon ends the festivities usually with dragon and lion dances and fireworks. To learn more about the Chinese Zodiac and read books by Asian authors please visit the library.

On Thursday, January 19th, and Friday, January 20th during Advisory, please stop by to learn how to make a paper Chinese lantern.

FREE Books!!

Posted by Julia Troike on 10/6/2021 12:05:00 PM

So many books, yet so little room.... So we're pulling out some books that are a bit worn, may no longer be as popular or useful as they once were so that we can make room for new books.

In the Library world, we call this "Weeding".  Think of a garden, if you don't pull weeds it will crowd and maybe kill the plants you want to grow.  It's pretty similar with books... how can you browse when there's so much stuff in the way?!  Also, we need to make room for new books.

So check out our FREE Book section, these books are to keep.  Students may take up to 2 books from it per school day.  Read them, craft with them, whatever you want.  The Free Book section is by the couch.  These books need a good home, hope it's with you. :)

We made it!  School year 20-21 is over and summer is here!  Congrats. :)

If you still have library materials or your school chromebook, please return them to us before May 25th at 12pm.

Luckily for us, we're in Alaska and it's a wonderful place to summer, especially with a pandemic going on!  However, you may feel the need to READ and we're closed for the summer... I totally get it!

Here are some suggestions for getting your read on this summer with treats along the way just for reading for fun:

Have fun, happy summer and see you in August! -- Mrs. Troike :)
