Military Families Information

Welcome to North Pole Middle School!

North Pole Middle School is located between Ben Eielson Air Force Base to the east and Fort Wainwright to the west.  Because of the proximity, fifty-one percent of NPM students are military connected.  At the last count, 124 students were connected to the Army while 213 students were connected to the Air Force.  NPM has a strong infrastructure in place to support military connected students.  

We also have formal supports in place for military connected students and their families.  Georgia Sandgren is the district's Military Support Coordinator.  Janet Farris is the School Liaison Officer for Fort Wainwright and Earnest Kincade is the School Program Manager for Ben Eieslon Air Force Base.  Each is a valuable contributor to the success of students at NPM.

School Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC)

The Department of Defense has provided a Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) at North Pole Middle School.
The School MFLC provides brief, solution-focused, non-medical counseling to active military and their families.

  • The School MFLC is a licensed clinician.
  • Interactions with your child and/or family are kept in the strictest confidence.
  • No records are kept.
  • If you are interested in learning more about the program, call the School MFLC directly at (907) 251-8458.

A Parent/Legal Guardian Acknowledgement And Consent Letter For Child And Youth Behavioral Military And Family Life Counseling Services must be signed prior to the School MFLC working with any teen directly. The acknowledgement can be printed off, be available from the School MFLC, or can be acquired at the school counseling office. Signing this acknowledgement signifies that the parent has read the information regarding the services that the School MFLC provides and gives permission to interact with their child should a need arise for support.
